What is Google Wave:
Google Wave is a new tool for communication and collaboration on the web, coming later this year. It's like email, IM, google docs and social all in one!!
To preview google wave currently you require an invite.. To increase your chances of getting your google wave account earlier do the following:

If there are any upcoming Google Wave hackathons then fill in the form to attend. If you get accepted then you should receive a Google Wave invite a few days later..
Also visit https://services.google.com/fb/forms/wavesignupfordev/ and enter your details.
